Description

Intermittent curtailment rates represent the ratio of potential solar and wind output in the given time period curtailed to the sum of the curtailed output and actual output, expressed in percent. The figures are based on 30-minute supply and demand data published by each area’s TSO.

For example, if 5,200 MWh of solar and wind output in Kyushu was curtailed on May 5, 2025, and the solar and wind generation on the day was 20,800 MWh, then the daily intermittent curtailment rate would be 5,200 ÷ (20,800 + 5,200) = 20%.
