Description
Solar curtailment rates represent the ratio of potential solar output in the given time period curtailed to the sum of the curtailed output and actual output, expressed in percent. The figures are based on 30-minute supply and demand data published by each area’s TSO.
For example, if 5,000 MWh of solar output in Kyushu was curtailed on May 5, 2025, and the solar generation on the day was 20,000 MWh, then the daily solar curtailment rate would be 5,000 ÷ (20,000 + 5,000) = 20%.
