Description
Wind curtailment rates represent the ratio of potential wind output in the given time period curtailed to the sum of the curtailed output and actual output, expressed in percent. The figures are based on 30-minute supply and demand data published by each area’s TSO.
For example, if 50,000 MWh of wind output in Kyushu was curtailed in calendar year 2025, and the wind generation in the year was 200,000 MWh, then the annual (calendar) wind curtailment rate would be 50,000 ÷ (200,000 + 50,000) = 20%.
