Chubu Electric Power Miraiz and Fuji Electric signed an offsite corporate PPA through which the former will supply power from newly developed solar power plants to Fuji Electric group’s three semiconductor factories in Nagano Prefecture, the companies announced on September 12, 2024.

As part of the PPA, Chubu EPCO group’s Jenex will develop 15 solar power plants in Aichi and Mie prefectures. Power generated at the power plants totaling approximately 10.7MWDC will be delivered to Fuji Electric’s Matsumoto Factory in Matsumoto City and two factories of its Fuji Electric Power Semiconductors subsidiary, one in Omachi City and the other in Iiyama City, for 20 years.

The power plants are expected to be commissioned gradually starting in April 2025. It has not been disclosed when the companies expect the PPA to be fully operational. Once that is the case, however, Fuji Electric expects the power from the 15 power plants to lead to an approximately 5,700 tons of CO2 per year emission reduction.

According to Chubu Electric Power Miraiz, this is the Chubu EPCO group’s largest corporate PPA to date. The Japan Energy Hub PPA database shows that in the past, Chubu Electric Power Miraiz and Jenex disclosed close to 20 other PPAs with the largest one being a 4.5MWDC deal with OSG.
