I Grid Solutions and Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking signed a partnership to promote the use of on-site PPAs, the companies announced on February 7, 2025.

According to the statement, the two companies plan the collaboration to initially be approximately 5 billion yen in scale, aiming to rapidly advance development. As part of the partnership, i Grid Solutions will be in charge of arranging and operating the on-site PPAs, and developing and operating the related solar power plants. Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking will be responsible for structuring the deals and providing financing.

The partnership is part of i Grid Solutions’ Solar Alliance project, which plans to expand its on-site PPA business through partnerships with other businesses and municipalities. It was launched in early 2023, starting with a partnership with JA Mitsui Leasing and The Norinchukin Bank.

As of the end of January 2025, i Grid Solutions has developed 275MW of on-site PPA capacity at 1,113 facilities. Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking has invested in a variety of solar, wind, hydro, and other renewable energy projects. Among other initiatives, it is one of the investors in an 8+ billion yen BESS-focused fund established by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.
