JR-EAST Energy Development brought online the two 7.5MW Yokohama Myojintaira and Oritsumedake onshore wind power plants in the Tohoku TSO area on December 1, 2025, the company announced on December 24, 2025.
According to the statements, both assets consist of two 4.3MW turbines with a combined 8.6MW nameplate capacity capped due to grid connection limits. The railway operator JR East’s subsidiary owns the project in Yokohama Town, Aomori, jointly with Kaihatsu Dengyo, an electrical construction company based in the prefecture. It is the sole equity investor in Oritsumedake, which is located in Karumai Town and Ninohe City, Iwate Prefecture.
METI data shows Oritsumedake was certified under the feed-in-tariff (FIT) scheme in FY2015 and Yokohama Myojintaira in the following fiscal year. Both operate under 22 yen per kWh contracts.
The two plants follow the February and October 2025 completions of the 40.8MW Kawauchi Onitaroyama Wind Power Plant and the 61.1MW Kagurayama Wind Power Plant, which is the largest JR-EAST Energy Development-led operational project. The company also broke ground on the 25MW Makikawa Masaki Wind Farm jointly with GF Corporation and the 33.7MW Iwaki Miwa earlier this year, aiming to commission them in FY2026 and FY2027, respectively.
