NTT Anode Energy released a draft environmental impact assessment report for a 29.24MWAC/52.25MWDC solar power plant it is developing in Sumoto City on Hyogo Prefecture’s Awaji Island. It provided no planned COD for the project.
According to the report, the project will be located on a 61ha site, which formerly served as Taiheiyo Cement Uchida Mining Site’s quarry, leased for 30 years. It is expected to consist of about 81,000 645W solar panels. Construction is expected to take approximately one and a half years, with commercial operation set to begin within two years of groundbreaking.
The company launched the environmental impact assessment process for the “Sumoto Solar Power Generation Project” in November 2023 when it submitted a “early stage document on environmental impact consideration” as required by a Hyogo Prefecture ordinance.
METI data shows that NTT Anode Energy had 48 operational FIT/FIP solar power plants totaling 120MWAC/165MWDC as of the end of January 2025 in addition to assets owned through joint ventures and special purpose companies. According to the Japan Energy Hub PPA database, the company has also signed multiple physical and virtual deals, including a 4.8MW agreement with Duskin.
