Renewable Energy Development LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary NCS RE Capital, will develop a 1.999MW/8.226MWh grid-scale BESS facility in Omuta City, Fukuoka Prefecture, NCS RE Capital’s parent NEC Capital Solutions announced on January 7, 2025.
According to the statement, construction work on the “RED Omuta Power Storage Station” is expected to start in March 2025 with commissioning expected in October 2025. Kyuden Mirai Energy will be in charge of trading the battery’s power, marking the first time for the Kyushu Electric Power Group company to be involved in the BESS business. Another Kyushu Electric Power Group company, Nishimu Electronics Industries, will be tasked with maintenance.
The project will use “Mega Power” lithium-ion BESS supplied by Power X and Nishimu’s EMS. Shoden Tecx was selected as the project’s engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor.
“RED Omuta Power Storage Station” is one of the 27 projects that have been selected as recipients of METI’s FY2024 subsidy for the construction of grid-scale power storage. The project was awarded approximately 168 million yen.
