Kansai EPCO will develop solar power plants on 13 unused plots of land in the suburbs of Himeji City, Hyogo Prefecture, and deliver the power to 13 public facilities in the city including Himeji Castle, Himeji City Zoo, Himeji City Museum of Arts, Himeji Park, etc.
Excess power is expected to be used to supply other public facilities and for green hydrogen production
The power plants will include 11 low-voltage ones (49.5kW each) expected to be built in FY2023 and two mega solar power plants expected to be constructed in FY2025
Himeji City has been selected as a “decarbonization leading region” by the Ministry of Environment, and the PPA project is part of the city’s “Himeji Castle Zero Carbon Castle Concept” project, a decarbonization plan created with Kansai EPCO
The PPA project will be fully funded by Himeji City
