- Between May 18 and July 21, 2023, Gunma Prefecture solicited applications from Gunma-based offtakers interested in procuring power produced at the prefecture’s hydro power plants
- The prefecture offered to sell the power to retailers for 15 yen per kWh plus tax
- Out of 25 applications totaling 280,000,000kWh per year in consumption, nine applicants totaling 110,000kWh per year were selected
- The selected applicants included CAINZ, Gunseisha, Shin-Etsu Chemical, NTT East Corporation, and five GN Group companies (GN Holdings, Gunma Nissan, Nissan Prince Gunma, GN Logi Partners, and Nissan Parts Gunma)
- In the case of CAINS, 33 facilities including 29 stores and four logistics facilities will be supplied power
- Power will be supplied for three years between April 1, 2024, and March 31, 2027
