- As part of the virtual PPA, Clean Energy Connect started supplying Non-FIT Non-Fossil Certificates to Nippon Thompson in February 2024
- To do so, Clean Energy Connect built nine low-voltage solar power plants, some of which are still waiting for their grid connection to be approved
- The virtual PPA will make 100% of power consumption at Nippon Thompson’s sales offices around the country renewable and excess power will be used at its manufacturing facility in Gifu Prefecture
- Clean Energy Connect will sell the generated power in the wholesale market while Nippon Thompson will procure its power from a retailer
- This is the first virtual PPA in Japan’s bearing industry
