NTT DOCOMO partnered with Tohoku EPCO, Hokuriku EPCO, TEPCO Energy Partner, and NTT Anode Energy to secure power for the company’s buildings in the Tohoku, Hokuriku, and Kanto areas
About 70% of the power will be secured from solar with additionality and about 30% from biomass
The power is expected to account for approximately 20% of each building’s consumption
The biomass power plant that is part of this PPA is Mukaihama Power Plant in Akita City, Akita Prefecture
The power plant is operated by United Renewable Energy and was commissioned in July 2016
It will use unused wood and wood chips from Akita Prefecture (contributing to local production-local consumption) as primary fuel; GGL-certified PKS (palm kernel shell) will be used as secondary fuel
NTT Anode Energy will deliver the generated power to selected NTT DOCOMO buildings in Tohoku including the NTT DOCOMO Akita Building
One of the solar power generators is Pro Media, which signed a 1.2MW PPA with TEPCO Energy Partner and NTT DOCOMO
The power will be delivered from a newly developed power plant in Kumagaya City, Saitama Prefecture, to multiple NTT Docomo buildings in the Kanto area
The project is expected to be commissioned in March 2025
The annual volume is expected to be approximately 1.38GWh
