Additional details
- Sumitomo Mitsui Finance and Leasing’s subsidiary SMFL Mirai Partners developed a solar power plant at YKK AP’s Saitama Factory’s new building in Misato Town, Saitama Prefecture, which commissioned as part of an on-site PPA in October 2023
- In May 2024, the PPA was expanded so that in addition to the generated power being consumed at the new factory, a portion of the generated power would also be delivered to the factory’s old building and to YKK AP Saitama Window Factory with Nippon Steel Engineering serving as a retailer
- The new hybrid on-/off-site mode will allow the company to use 100% of the generated power as opposed to approximately 50% before
- The PPA is expected to result in a 512 t/year reduction in CO2 emissions
