Eneforward commissioned a 2MW/8MWh grid-scale battery storage facility in Imari City, Saga Prefecture, in January 2026, the company announced on February 3, 2026.

According to the statement, construction began in July 2025 and was completed in December of the same year. The asset is located in the Kyushu TSO area and uses containerized Huawei BESS units. Eneforward did not disclose further details about the project.

The Saga facility appears to be the company’s first BESS project built to own and operate rather than sell to a third party. Separately, it is developing two similarly sized assets in Okayama and Kumamoto prefectures for Rising Corporation.

Eneforward said it aims to “contribute to building the infrastructure for a sustainable society through investment, development, and management of grid-scale batteries,” suggesting the intention to expand its portfolio. Before entering storage, the Fukuoka-based Eneforward has been primarily active in the development, construction, and operation and maintenance of low- and high-voltage solar power plants.
