Matsuo Sangyo connected a 2MW/8MWh grid-scale battery storage facility in Toyama City, Toyama Prefecture, developed for an undisclosed energy company to the grid on January 9, 2026, marking the first project completed under its turnkey service.

According to a statement released on the same day, Matsuo Sangyo handled engineering and BESS procurement, grid connection application, construction coordination, and aggregator contracting.

The project, which is expected to primarily participate in the balancing market, uses three containerized Gotion BESS units with LS Electric power conditioning systems. Construction began in October 2025.

Originally a trading company focused on auto components, specialized raw materials, and research and development equipment, Matsuo Sangyo has also been active in solar cell development and sales. In FY2023, it added storage batteries to its lineup and, in November 2025, it launched Matsuo Energy with the aim of developing and operating owned and third-party grid-scale battery storage projects.

The company is currently focusing on high-voltage facilities but said it will also consider expanding into extra high-voltage projects.
