Noval Solar began commercial operations of Noval Power A2, a 7.71MW/15.42MWh grid-scale battery storage project in Itoshima City, Fukuoka Prefecture, on May 9, 2026, the company announced on June 9, 2026.
According to the statement, the facility uses four Tesla Megapack units. It was connected to the grid in November 2025, followed by trial operations. The asset is aggregated by Kansai Electric Power unit E-Flow and began participating in the balancing market on May 15, 2026.
Noval Power A2 follows two high-voltage battery storage projects commissioned by the company in Ibaraki Prefecture in June 2025, the 1.93MW/4.89MWh Joso Power Storage Station and the 1.93MW/3.85MWh Toride Power Storage Station.
While the newly completed asset is Noval Solar’s first extra high-voltage grid-scale battery storage facility, the company has also been awarded Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s FY2025 subsidy for two additional large-scale projects including one each in Saitama and Gunma prefectures. The former is expected to be aggregated by E-Flow and the latter by ElectroRoute Japan.
