Remixpoint partnered with Second Foundation Japan and IQg to expand its battery storage-related services and offer a turnkey development and operation solution, the company announced on December 19, 2025.
Under the partnership, Remixpoint will have Second Foundation aggregate the battery storage assets it will own, as well as those the company will develop for third parties. IQg, which formed a capital and business alliance with the Czech-based aggregator in July 2024 and serves as its sales agent in Japan, will identify companies interested in developing new projects and introduce them to Remixpoint.
The tie-up will allow Remixpoint to expand its current offering, which includes support with site acquisition and project construction, to also include post-COD trading optimization.
Second Foundation has entered the Japanese market in May 2023 under its previous brand Trisolaris. It invested 450 million yen in IQg when forming their alliance and established a project development joint venture with the Japanese company.
Remixpoint plans to build out a portfolio of 20 grid-scale battery storage assets under its 2027-2029 management plan. Earlier this month, it partnered with Nippon Chikudenchi to develop projects under a 50:50 joint venture. When announcing the partnership with Second Foundation and IQg, it also indicated it is developing two BESS facilities in Tainai City, Niigata Prefecture, with winter 2026 target COD.
The alliance follows similar tie-ups formed over the past year, including between West Holdings and Toshiba Energy Systems & Solutions and between Sun Village and Marubeni Power Retail. It comes as companies with varying levels of experience in the energy industry are showing increasing interest in investing in grid-scale battery storage.
