Restar is proceeding with the construction of its first grid-scale battery storage project, a 2MW/8MWh facility in Chichibu City, Saitama Prefecture, the TSE Prime-listed company announced on August 29, 2025.
According to the statement, the project is scheduled to begin commercial operation in December 2025. It will use Huawei battery systems. Restar tasked Sun Village with engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC). Digital Grid will handle aggregation after commissioning.
“Going forward, our subsidiary V-Power will work to establish an aggregation function,” said the company, indicating its interest in moving to in-house aggregation in the future. Restar sees the Chichibu BESS project as the foundation for aggregating third-party assets. The subsidiary is currently active in power retail and generation.
Restar operates 86 solar power plants across Japan, as well as 68 approximately 20kW small-scale wind turbines in Hokkaido and Tohoku. According to its website, it is also planning to develop biomass power plants.
The electronic component sales and technical support company’s “eco solutions” segment, which also includes solar plant operation and maintenance (O&M) services, accounted for under 4% of revenue in the most recently reported Q1 FY2025.
