Nomuraya Holdings selected Star Seeds battery systems for a 2MW/8.4MWh grid-scale storage facility it plans to build in Nishiwaki City, Hyogo Prefecture, the supplier announced on September 11, 2025. The project is the first known order for the equipment being developed under the latter’s partnership with Shanghai Robestec Technology.
According to the statement, construction of the project is expected to begin in January and finish in March 2026. Nomuraya Holdings plans to commission the asset at the end of May 2026 following a two-month trial operation period. A listing on Yamawake Estate suggests capital was secured through the real estate crowdfunding platform. The campaign, run in July 2025, raised about 658 million yen, exceeding its 544 million yen target.
Nomuraya Holdings has developed more than 500 solar projects, primarily in Nagano Prefecture, totaling over 72MW. It targets 10 billion yen in sales in 2030, with grid-scale BESS being one of the key pillars of growth. The company also aims to secure a power retail license to further grow its renewables business.
Star Seeds focused on fashion retail before diversifying into battery storage earlier this year. It announced the Robestec tie-up, under which the partners plan to jointly develop projects and offer a one-stop solution for import, installation, and maintenance of battery systems, in June 2025. The Japanese company said it aims to procure 400MWh of batteries from the China-based manufacturer for 50 projects.
The fashion retailer-turned-energy company also recently broke ground on its first grid-scale project, a 2MW/8MWh facility in Wakayama Prefecture being developed under a separate partnership with JPN ENERGY Integrated System.
