Trina Storage completed its first projects in Japan in 2025.

Trina Storage signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with AMP-lify to supply approximately 1GWh of grid-scale battery storage equipment for the developer’s projects in Japan, the manufacturer announced on September 14, 2026.

According to the statement, the Trina Solar unit will supply the Japanese company with both containerized Elementa 3 units, up to 6.25MWh each, and their up to 1.56MWh cabinet-type counterparts. Trina Storage will also provide technical support, with its Japan team handling system configuration, delivery, and after-sales service.

AMP-lify’s website shows that it had 215MWh of operational or under-construction grid-scale battery storage in Fukui Prefecture with an additional 122MWh under development in Yamaguchi Prefecture as of March 2026. National Tax Agency data shows AC22 LLC, a special purpose company likely associated with AMP-lify, was renamed Kurokawa Chikudensho LLC on August 17, 2026, suggesting it might be preparing another battery storage project.

The solar, onshore wind, and grid-scale battery storage developer was launched by Amp Energy in 2016 and secured an up to 20 billion yen investment from an Aravest- and SMBC Group-sponsored fund and Banpu NEXT in 2024. At the time, it said it aimed to become a “2GW platform before the turn of the decade.” As of March 2026, it had 556MW in operation or under construction and 432MW in earlier-stage development.

Trina Storage completed its first grid-scale battery storage systems in Japan in mid-2025 and later that year signed an MoU with Yuasa Trading to deliver 500MWh of equipment in the country over five years. In 2026, it secured an order for a 160MWh project in Kyushu.
