TUN POWER will invest in its first grid-scale battery storage project in Japan, aggregator RE100 Power announced on September 11, 2025.
According to the statement, RE100 Power secured a contract for a 2MW/8.1MWh facility in Wakayama City, Wakayama Prefecture, with the Taiwan-based TUN GREEN POWER’s Japan unit. The aggregator plans to task its group company JPN ENERGY Integrated System with development and engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC).
Once operational, RE100 Power will aggregate the asset, participating in the wholesale, balancing, and capacity markets. JPN ENERGY Integrated System will handle operation and maintenance (O&M).
TUN GREEN POWER is an affiliate of cable and wire manufacturer TA TUN. The group already operates multiple storage projects in Taiwan but the Wakayama facility is its first known project in Japan. It follows multiple other Taiwanese companies, including HD Renewable Energy, Formosa Electronic Industries, and EUKA Power, in entering the Japanese grid-scale BESS market.
JPN ENERGY Integrated System and RE100 Power previously signed similar turnkey solution contracts with other investors in battery storage, such as Akiyama Kosan and Star Seeds.
