G Three Holdings plans to diversify from solar into grid-scale battery storage.

G Three Holdings will acquire its first grid-scale battery storage project, a 2MW/8MWh facility in Nagasu Town, Kumamoto Prefecture, from Nomuraya Holdings upon completion, the TSE Standard-listed sustainability solutions company announced on October 6, 2025. Going forward, it aims to add about six assets annually.

According to the statement, the facility will be built on a 722m2 site and is expected to be completed at the end of May 2026. G Three Holdings plans to sign a contract with an aggregator to operate the project.

The company did not disclose the acquisition cost. It said it has retained the right to cancel the contract and receive a refund if any unresolvable risk is identified and added that depending on development progress, it may resell the project or replace it with another one.

G Three Holdings entered into the solar industry in 2016 and has mainly been active in purchasing, developing, and selling high-voltage projects operating under the feed-in-tariff (FIT) scheme. In May 2025, it sold a 1MWAC/1.3MWDC asset it owned in Shizuoka Prefecture, leaving it with two more operational power plants according to METI FIT/FIP certification data, including a 1.5MWAC/1.7MWDC one in Miyagi Prefecture and a 250kWAC/270kWDC one in Mie Prefecture.

It joins a growing list of companies with previous FIT project development experience diversifying into grid-scale BESS projects, such as Leo Corporation, Touchi International, and Sansho.
