Sunshine Kyushu Hombu commissioned Iizuka Power Storage Station, a 1.99MW/7.46MWh grid-scale battery storage facility in Iizuka City, Fukuoka Prefecture, in July 2026, equipment supplier Nissin Electric announced on July 23, 2026.

According to the statement, the Kyoto-based manufacturer supplied the project’s battery storage system. The asset will be optimized by an undisclosed aggregator and participate in the wholesale, balancing, and capacity markets.

The project received support under METI’s FY2025 subsidy program for grid-scale battery facilities. Sunshine Kyushu Hombu secured two of the scheme’s 37 awards, worth approximately 119 million yen and 172 million yen. Both of the selected projects are in Fukuoka Prefecture. It is unclear which corresponds to the Iizuka asset.

Established in 1999, Sunshine Kyushu Hombu has primarily been active in the sale and construction of rooftop and ground-mounted solar power systems. It joins a growing list of companies with limited experience in owning and operating renewable and storage assets in joining the grid-scale battery sector.
