Daiwa Energy completed repowering the 1.89MWAC/2.16MWDC DREAM Solar Hyogo Toyooka solar power plant in Toyooka City, Hyogo Prefecture, parent company Daiwa House Industry announced on August 3, 2026.

According to the statement, the works began on March 12, 2026, and lasted through May 31, 2026, with Nichimo in charge of construction. The removed panels will be reused through Itochu Metals.

As part of the repowering, Daiwa Energy replaced 8,820 monofacial 245W panels with 4,862 bifacial 445W modules. The power conditioning system (PCS) setup was switched from three 630kW systems to 18 units of 105kW each to limit the impact of potential individual equipment failures on the power plant’s overall output. The company said it expects generation and revenue to improve by up to approximately 40%.

METI data shows the project was certified under the feed-in-tariff (FIT) scheme in February 2013, when 10kW and larger solar power plants were eligible for 20-year, 40-yen-per-kWh contracts. The asset was commissioned in March 2014 and acquired by Daiwa Energy in 2017. The company aims to keep it operating beyond its FIT period, which ends in early 2034.

The Daiwa House Industry group company plans to leverage its experience with the Toyooka project in repowering its other assets and launching a turnkey service for other solar power plant owners. The move comes as Japan’s early-FIT solar plants, such as ENEOS Renewable Energy’s JRE Hidakagawa Solar Power Plant in Wakayama Prefecture, increasingly cross the 10-year mark, prompting their owners to refurbish them.
