On December 19, 2024, the Shikoku-based real estate developer Anabuki Kosan and Ricoh Japan signed a partnership agreement to promote the spread of renewable energy and the optimization of local energy systems. The two companies also signed an 3.1MW off-site PPA.
“Anabuki Kosan will utilize its know-how in community-based business development and real estate development, and Ricoh Japan will provide its knowledge of renewable energy and expertise in energy management systems to support the introduction of clean energy in local communities,” said the companies’ statement.
Specifically, the companies plan to work together to construct new renewable power plants in the Shikoku TSO area and will also eye developing grid-scale battery storage facilities.
As part of the PPA announced alongside the partnership, Anabuki Kosan will build a 3.1MWDC solar power plant in Sanuki City, Kagawa Prefecture. A portion of the power plant’s construction will be covered using Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry’s FY2023 “consumer-led introduction of solar power generation” subsidy. Anabuki Kosan plans to commission the power plant in April 2025.
The generated power will be delivered to Ricoh Japan and its suppliers’ facilities, as well as to Anabuki Kosan’s headquarters and other Anabuki Kosan-related facilities with Ricoh Japan serving as the retailer. Ricoh Japan will also supply those facilities with renewable energy certificates from other sources to cover the portion of their power consumption not covered by the PPA.
