Ikuyo decided to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Noah Construction to invest in and jointly develop grid-scale battery storage projects, the TSE Standard-listed company announced on July 6, 2026. On July 9, it disclosed a similar tie-up with Great Power Nexcell.
According to the statement, Noah Kensetsu develops projects at schools that have been closed down. The companies are considering partnering on three potential assets in Tosu City, Saga Prefecture, including two with a power capacity of 19.95MW and one of 9.95MW. Investment amounts, ownership shares, and other project-level details will be determined through further discussions.
No specific project details were disclosed for the MoU with battery system manufacturer Great Power Energy & Technology’s Japan unit Great Power Nexcell, under which Ikuyo eyes investments in data center and storage projects.
Auto parts maker Ikuyo’s exploration of grid-scale battery storage follows its formulation of a new growth strategy in July 2025, which calls for the company to develop new businesses including in the energy and environment segments. It joins other TSE Standard and TSE Growth-listed companies with limited or no prior experience in the energy industry, such as Toho Lamac, JALCO Holdings, and GLOME Holdings, in expanding into the sector.
