The project is expected to begin commercial operation in January 2027.

Toho Lamac plans to enter the grid-scale battery storage market by acquiring a 1.99MW/8.22MWh project in Makubetsu Town, Hokkaido, from an undisclosed seller, the TSE Standard-listed company announced on June 30, 2026.

According to the statement, the company’s board approved the acquisition on the same day, with the purchase agreement scheduled to be signed in July 2026. Commercial operation is targeted for January 2027.

Primarily a footwear wholesaler, Toho Lamac decided to enter the energy sector in March 2024 and acquired its first asset, a 421.6kW solar power plant in Kagawa Prefecture, in December 2024.

Toho Lamac joins a growing list of TSE Standard and TSE Growth-listed companies with limited or no prior experience in the energy industry, such as GLOME Holdings, Anabuki Kosan, and Port Inc., expanding into grid-scale battery storage.
