Anabuki Kosan plans to enter the grid-scale battery storage market with a 2MW/8.94MWh project in Mimata Town, Miyazaki Prefecture, the company announced on May 7, 2026.
According to the statement, the facility is expected to be commissioned in February 2027. Anabuki Kosan’s wholly-owned subsidiary Nihon Denryoku will be responsible for engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC), as well as operations and maintenance (O&M). Once operational, the asset will be aggregated by Eurus Energy Holdings.
The TSE Standard-listed real estate company said it is also developing grid-scale battery storage projects in Fukuoka and Oita prefectures. Leveraging the know-how from its core business, it aims to expand the portfolio to other parts of western Japan, primarily across Kyushu.
Anabuki Kosan’s expansion into grid-scale battery storage follows its entry into renewable development in partnership with Ricoh. Under the tie-up announced in December 2024, the real estate company agreed to develop 3.1MW of solar capacity for an off-site PPA supplying power to both partners’ group facilities, with the latter serving as the retailer sleeving the scheme.
Several other real estate companies, such as B-Lot, Wada Kohsan, and A.D.Works, have also been investing in grid-scale battery storage.
