Last week, the Hyogo Prefecture-based real estate company Wada Kohsan announced that it will develop its first grid-scale BESS facility.

The 1.999MW/7.404MWh facility will be located on a 744-square meter site in Tamba-Sasayama City, Hyogo Prefecture, and is expected to be commissioned in July 2025.

While Wada Kohsan did not disclose the project’s EPC contractor, its statement said E-Flow would be responsible for charging/discharging decisions and managing the facility’s power trading. E-Flow is a subsidiary of Kansai Electric Power, the area’s utility, which, among other activities, aggregates BESS. Mid-last month, the company announced it started trading BESS power in the balancing market in addition to the wholesale and capacity markets.
