Hokuriku Electric Power increased the output of the hydroelectric Inotani Power Station in Toyama City, Toyama Prefecture, by 1.2MW from 23.6MW to 24.8MW, the company announced on January 27, 2025.
“Performance verification tests conducted at the Inotani Power Station on the Takahara River system, confirmed that the power plant’s output could be increased by 1,200 kW by making effective use of existing facilities (by increasing the maximum amount of water used), and therefore the output was changed,” said the company’s statement.
According to the statement, Hokuriku EPCO submitted the necessary paperwork to METI on January 8, 2025, and increased the output from January 24, 2025. The company expects the additional generation resulting from the change to be approximately 1.5GWh per year.
The Inotani hydro power plant was commissioned in 1929. It is part of Hokuriku EPCO’s nearly 2GW hydro portfolio, which includes 131 power plants spread across Toyama, Gifu, Ishikawa, and Fukui prefectures.
