Mitsubishi Corporation Clean Energy-affiliated special purpose company (SPC) Kushima Sakida Wind Farm submitted the draft environmental impact assessment report for its up to 25.2MW Kushima-Nambu Wind Power Plant in Miyazaki Prefecture, on June 11, 2026.
According to the document, the company plans to install six turbines, 4.2MW each, across a 169ha site in Kushima City. Their combined output will be capped at 21MW due to grid connection size. Construction is expected to begin in October 2028, with commercial operation following in May 2031.
METI data shows the project was certified under the feed-in-tariff (FIT) scheme in FY2020, when new onshore wind assets were eligible for 20-year, 18-yen-per-kWh contracts.
Other onshore wind projects in the area include Kyuden Mirai Energy and Kraftia’s 64.8MW Kushima Wind Power Plant commissioned in October 2020 and SymEnergy’s 30MW Kushima City Ichiki, which is currently at the methodology stage of the environmental impact assessment process.
Kushima-Nambu Wind Power Plant was originally developed by Windy, which launched the project’s assessment process in August 2020. At the time, it was planning to install up to eight turbines totaling up to 21MW across a 223ha site. The project progressed into the methodology stage in January 2021. It was transferred to the SPC in February 2026.
Mitsubishi Corporation Clean Energy holds stakes in a portfolio of onshore wind, solar, and hydro projects across Japan.
