Nippon Chikudenchi and Kyudenko partnered on grid-scale battery storage, the companies announced on August 7, 2025.
Under the framework agreement, Kyudenko will support the development and construction of Nippon Chikudenchi’s projects in the Kyushu TSO area. According to the statement, the companies launched the partnership with an 8MWh project in Karatsu City, Saga Prefecture, set for October 2025 commissioning. The New Energy Business News reported they will aim to collaborate on and complete 30 projects by the end of FY2026.
Nippon Chikudenchi’s tie-up with Kyudenko follows a similar deal between Nippon Chikudenchi and Sun Village announced in May 2025, under which the two companies agreed to develop 100MW/400MWh. The partnership covered the grid-scale BESS-focused company’s first operational facility, the 2MW/8MWh Kasugai Nishio Power Storage Station.
Kyudenko sees grid-scale storage as one of the key growth areas under its mid-term management plan released in April 2025. While the company previously announced plans to co-locate batteries with a solar project it owns jointly with Itochu, the collaboration with Nippon Chikudenchi is its first disclosed specific BESS project.
