Mitsubishi HC Capital Energy partnered with Hiroshima-based Nikko Construction to develop 5MW of non-FIT (feed-in-tariff) solar power plants annually, the company announced on July 15, 2026.

According to the statement, Mitsubishi HC Capital Energy will provide capital, assess project feasibility feasibility, structure the schemes, select aggregators, and secure offtakers. Nikko Construction will identify suitable sites, negotiate with landowners, coordinate grid connections, and manage construction. The companies said they will divide the roles flexibly as necessary.

The partners did not disclose whether their joint development will focus on a particular region of Japan.

Previously, Mitsubishi HC Capital Energy signed a similar partnership with Ecokaku, under which the Tochigi-based developer is to develop and build 10MW of solar power plants annually for the investor, primarily in the Tohoku TSO area. The company also said in May 2026 that it would develop 20MW of solar power plants for off-site PPAs jointly with Tohoku Electric Power by FY2028.

Mitsubishi HC Capital Energy owned a 768MWDC operational portfolio as of the end of March 2026 and is one of three companies that have so far secured METI’s qualified long-term solar generator certification. While most of its assets operate under FIT, the company is also growing its PPA-backed capacity, having signed deals with Okamoto Machine Tool Works and JR East among other offtakers.
