GLOME Holdings has accelerated its grid-scale battery storage entry.

GLOME Holdings will establish GLOME Energy as part of its efforts to grow grid-scale battery storage into its second core business after healthcare, the TSE Growth-listed company announced on July 21, 2026.

According to the statement, the wholly-owned subsidiary is expected to be established in August 2026 with 80 million yen in capital. The new company will continue to acquire grid-scale battery storage assets and also aim to develop projects through special purpose companies (SPCs) funded via project finance and strengthen collaboration with external partners.

The parent company said it will consider expanding the unit’s activities into the broader energy business, including renewables, in the future.

Since announcing its entry into the sector on April 30, 2026, GLOME Holdings has agreed to acquire two 2MW grid-scale battery storage projects through its subsidiary Fukuyama Medical Equipment, one each in Toyooka City, Hyogo Prefecture, and Tochigi City, Tochigi Prefecture.

Primarily a provider of consulting and other services to healthcare facility operators, GLOME Holdings originally planned to complete its first grid-scale battery storage project acquisition on September 1, 2026. It accelerated the timeline after identifying suitable assets matching its strategy of investing in late-stage projects that are ready for commissioning or nearing completion.
