All seven projects that bid in the sixth (FY2026) onshore wind auction were awarded a combined 329.07MW at an average feed-in-premium (FIP) price of 11.12 yen per kWh, results released by OCCTO on November 2, 2026, show. No developers registered in the fourth (FY2025 and FY2026) fixed-bottom offshore wind auction.
Vena Energy, through special purpose companies affiliated with its unit Japan Wind Development, secured 71.1% of the capacity at 10 yen per kWh, the round’s lowest price. The awards include Yamanami Furyoku LLC’s 150MW in Aomori Prefecture, Akita Oga Furyoku LLC’s 46.2MW in Akita Prefecture, and Ojiroi Okeuri Furyoku LLC’s 37.8MW in Fukushima Prefecture. All three are currently undergoing environmental impact assessment.
GPSS Project Development’s bid with the auction’s second-largest, 66.08MW project was awarded at the round’s highest price of 13.89 yen per kWh, just below the 14.00 yen per kWh cap.
Nozomi Energy secured a 13.78-yen-per-kWh FIP strike price for a 15MW project that was previously awarded 11 yen per kWh in the fifth (FY2025) auction but withdrawn. KA Wind Fukamochi LLC was awarded 12MW at 13.86 yen per kWh. Shirokuma Power-affiliated Shiunji Furyoku Hatsuden LLC won 1.99MW at 13.48 yen per kWh, likely for the Seiro Wind Power Plant that is scheduled to come online in November 2027 under an offsite PPA with Seven-Eleven.
Overall, the bids in the onshore wind auction covered less than half of the 700MW sought. Nine business plans totaling 461.07MW were submitted for review, but two were deemed ineligible to bid. With participation below 1.1GW, no supplemental round will be held this fiscal year.
The fixed-bottom offshore wind auction for areas outside those offered through tenders organized by METI and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism aimed to award 190MW. The results show that the price ceiling, which was not disclosed in advance, was increased to 32 yen per kWh from the third round’s 24 yen per kWh.
