Chubu Electric Power Miraiz agreed to supply Toyo Tire with the output of an approximately 7.8MW solar portfolio under an off-site PPA, the companies announced on June 26, 2026.
According to the statement, supply is scheduled to begin gradually from June 30, 2026, and continue for 20 years. It is expected to reach about 9.7GWh per year. The power will be delivered to Toyo Tire’s Kuwana Plant in Toin Town, Mie Prefecture, covering approximately 10% of the facility’s annual consumption.
The power retailer said the portfolio will include newly built projects in Mie and Aichi prefectures, alongside existing assets in Nagano and Gifu. It did not disclose the ownership details of the power plants.
Toyo Tire installed a rooftop solar power plant generating about 419MWh annually at its Corporate Technology Center in Hyogo Prefecture. Kuwana Plant and the company’s two other domestic manufacturing facilities, Sendai Plant and Hyogo Manufacturing Complex, are not equipped with on-site generation. The deal with Chubu Electric Power Miraiz is the tire manufacturer’s first disclosed PPA.
In addition to solar off-site PPAs, Chubu Electric Power Miraiz has also structured virtual PPAs involving biomass and hydropower plants, large-scale on-site PPAs, and on- and off-site hybrid schemes.
