EXEO Group will develop a 2MW/10MWh grid-scale battery storage facility in Takizawa City, Iwate Prefecture, it announced on May 11, 2026.
According to the statement, the company aims to use the asset, which will be its first owned grid-scale battery storage project, to gain know-how from an owner’s perspective, strengthening its engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) business. It did not disclose whether it plans to build out a portfolio in the future.
Iwate Takizawa Power Storage Station is scheduled to be commissioned in February 2027. EPC, as well as operations and maintenance (O&M), will be handled in-house by EXEO Group. NTT Anode Energy will aggregate the asset, using it to participate in the wholesale, balancing, and capacity markets.
METI data shows the company also owns several renewable generation projects operating under the feed-in-tariff (FIT) scheme, including two 1.98MW biomass power plants in Fukushima Prefecture and a 27.51MWAC/31.86MWDC solar portfolio comprising 30 assets across the Tokyo, Kansai, and Chugoku TSO areas.
The TSE Prime-listed EXEO Group originally focused on telecommunications infrastructure EPC and maintenance, a segment that continued to account for 38% of its revenue in FY2024. In the same year, its urban infrastructure segment, which also includes energy, contributed 32% of sales. The remainder was generated by its system solutions segment. The company has been active in battery storage EPC since 2023.
