Nomuraya plans to commission its first owned grid-scale battery storage project, a 2MW/8MWh facility in Ueda City, Nagano Prefecture on December 22, 2025, the company announced on December 1, 2025.
According to the statement, the facility uses Huawei battery systems and will be used for verifying performance of the grid-scale storage business and building expertise in operating and maintaining BESS projects. It will also serve as a model asset that customers interested in using the company’s turnkey development, construction, and operation services can visit.
The company said it sold 15 high-voltage, 2MW/8MWh projects with a combined capacity of 30MW/120MWh between July and October 2025 under the turnkey service. Nine of those will be built in Nagano Prefecture where Nomuraya is based, four in Shizuoka Prefecture, and one each in Kumamoto Prefecture and Gunma Prefecture.
Nomuraya aims to bring the projects online between February and November 2026. Huawei will supply battery systems for nine, CATL for five, and PowerX for one of the assets.
The construction company entered the energy industry in 2009 when it began building residential solar power plants. It expanded into commercial projects in 2013 and is now looking to utilize the know-how in grid-scale storage.
