Eurus Energy Holdings launched the environmental impact assessment process for its up to 103.2MW Itagoyayama onshore wind project in Fukushima Prefecture.
According to a primary environmental impact consideration document submitted to METI and other stakeholders on October 2, 2026, the company plans to install up to 24 turbines, 4MW to 6MW each, across an approximately 778.3ha site in Tenei and Nishigo villages. Construction is scheduled to begin in April 2031, with commercial operation following in April 2034.
Operational wind power plants nearby include the 65.98MW Koriyama Nunobiki Kogen Wind Power Plant commissioned in February 2007 and Tenei Village’s 3MW Tenei Wind Power Plant, which was brought online in December 2000.
Other onshore wind farms in the area are at various stages of the environmental impact assessment. Ministry of the Environment data shows that Cosmo Eco Power’s up to 129MW Aizuwakamatsu power plant expansion has been at the methodology stage since 2021. J-Wind submitted the draft assessment for its 68.8MW Koriyama Nunobiki Kogen repowering project in 2025 and Mitsumori Furyoku Kaihatsu’s 39.1MW Mitsumori Toge completed the process in 2023.
Eurus Energy Holdings has 40 operational and several under-construction onshore wind projects in Japan, according to its website. The developer recently completed the assessment for its up to 98.6MW Kamaishi Wide-Area expansion project in Iwate Prefecture and launched the process for an up to 48.8MW project in Akita Prefecture jointly with ORIX.
