ENEOS Renewable Energy and XSOL partnered to develop a portfolio of small-scale solar power plants in the Chubu TSO area, they said on May 8, 2025.
Under the agreement, XSOL will develop and build 50 projects totaling 5MW. Construction of the assets will begin gradually from 2025, with all of them expected to be built by 2026. The completed projects will be sold to ENEOS Renewable Energy, which will monetize them through off-site PPAs.
The companies said they will consider expanding the collaboration in the future.
The partnership with XSOL follows ENEOS Renewable Energy’s tie-up with H.E Energy announced in December 2024 to develop a similar, 50-plant, 5MW portfolio in the Tohoku TSO area by the end of this year. It also follows its agreement with WAKO and ALL Asset Partners to develop 88 high-voltage solar power plants totaling 49MW in the Chugoku and Shikoku TSO areas.
With demand for renewable energy increasing and sites suitable for large-scale projects scarce, solar developers traditionally involved in extra high-voltage projects have been turning to partnerships with low- and high-voltage project specialists to secure portfolios of smaller-scale assets.
