Sun Village secured EPC contracts for two Gremz and one Fujitaka grid-scale battery storage facilities, the company announced on May 15, 2025.

All three assets are 2MW/8MWh and will be fully-merchant with Digital Grid serving as their aggregator. Each will comprise four Huawei LUNA2000-2.0MWH containerized systems.

Gremz’s two facilities are expected to be completed first, starting with Iga Power Storage Station in Iga City, Mie Prefecture, which is expected to be commissioned in December 2025. Its second asset, Toyohashi Power Storage Station in Toyohashi City, Aichi Prefecture, is scheduled to follow in January 2026. May 2026 COD is targeted for Fujitaka’s Tsuchiyamacho Power Storage Station in Koka City, Shiga Prefecture.

These are the first disclosed grid-scale BESS projects for both Gremz, a company mainly engaged in solar consulting, equipment sales, and development to date, and Fujitaka, which focuses on automation and other labor-saving solutions and also installs solar systems.

Sun Village’s battery storage-related activities have been focused on developing and building high-voltage, 2MW/8MWh-scale projects. The company partnered with multiple companies including Nippon Chikudenchi and HD Renewable Energy, and is aiming to complete 250 assets totaling 500MW nationwide. Digital Grid, which recently went public, is also expanding its BESS business through both aggregation contracts and own project development.
