Japan Energy Storage Development Institute (JESDI) completed the 2MW/5MWh Sanga Power Storage Station in Fukaya City, Saitama Prefecture, on September 11, 2026, the company announced on the same day.
According to the statement, construction began on May 10, 2026, with E-Top in charge of engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC). The facility uses battery systems supplied by HOBE ENERGY. RUTILEA will handle trading optimization and aggregation of the asset.
Sanga Power Storage Station is JESDI’s fifth grid-scale battery storage facility. It follows the 2MW/4MWh Aisho Town Power Storage Station in Shiga Prefecture completed in November 2025, which is the company’s sole project using Huawei battery systems rather than HOBE ENERGY’s, and three 2MW/5MWh projects in Saitama Prefecture that began operation between March and July 2026.
JESDI said it plans to develop further projects using a variety of site types including abandoned farmland, continuing its collaboration with E-Top, HOBE ENERGY, and RUTILEA. The company’s website shows it aims to commission at least four additional projects, two each in Saitama Prefecture and Tochigi Prefecture, by early 2027.
