GATES will enter the low-voltage grid-connected battery storage business through a pilot scheme comprising 28 projects of 49.5kW/200kWh each, totaling 1.39MW/5.6MWh, the company announced on September 8, 2026.
According to the statement, GATES will handle grid connection applications and invest in the assets. Adways Energy and ESCO will also provide funding, with the latter additionally being in charge of engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC), and operations and maintenance (O&M). Land will be provided by Kase Warehouse under 15-year contracts. GreenEnergy Plus will supply battery systems and its group company GREEN ACTION will aggregate the units.
The real estate and investment consulting company said it plans to develop further low-voltage battery projects across unused land, parking lots, logistics facilities, and other locations once the pilot is complete. GATES previously announced plans to develop a portfolio of six high-voltage storage assets by the end of 2027.
Sub-50kW low-voltage battery storage projects have been able to participate in the balancing market from April 2026. Since then, an increasing number of companies, such as Tensor Energy, Digital Grid, and Every Lab, have been entering the segment to take advantage of the regulatory change.
