Kuribayashi & Co. will develop a 2MW/7.52MWh grid-scale battery storage project in Hachinohe City, Aomori Prefecture, battery system supplier PowerX announced on October 6, 2026.

According to the statement, the facility is expected to be commissioned in October 2027. It will use three Mega Power 2500 units sold via the manufacturer’s subsidiary Ocean Power Grid. Once operational, the asset will be aggregated by PowerX.

The project is owned by Seven Power Storage LLC, a special purpose company (SPC) in which Kuribayashi & Co. holds full economic interest.

Previously, the Hokkaido-based port logistics company took a 10% stake in R2 Chikudensho LLC, an SPC established by Renova to develop a 215MW portfolio of three extra high-voltage grid-scale battery storage facilities backed by long-term decarbonization auction contracts.

The Hachinohe project is its first known with majority investment.
