METI plans to exclude 10MW+ woody biomass power plants from FIT/FIP starting from FY2026

At the meeting of its Procurement Price Calculation Committee held on January 17, 2025, METI expressed its intention to discontinue the support of new large-scale woody biomass and all liquid biomass power plants through the FIT and FIP schemes from FY2026 onward. It also started discussing measures to prevent existing biomass power plants under the schemes from converting to fossil fuels or decommissioning after FIT/FIP contract expiration.
