LehmanSoft Japan commissioned its first grid-scale battery storage project, a 2MW/8.1MWh facility in Chichibu City, Saitama Prefecture, on November 1, 2025, the company announced on December 16, 2025.
According to the statement, the company began arbitraging energy and is preparing to also trade in the balancing market. LehmanSoft did not disclose its market access provider and is not registered as a member of the Japan Electric Power Exchange (JEPX). It appears to be handling optimization in-house. The project uses CATL batteries and is located on a 695m2 site.
“We will build an optimal operation model for the balancing market based on operational data from the wholesale market, and aim to grow our business, including expanding our portfolio,” said LehmanSoft. It noted that it plans to partner with power companies and offtakers in the future.
Australia-based LehmanSoft, which is active in energy and pet-related businesses, launched its Japan unit in July 2024. In addition to the Saitama project, it is also developing a 2MW/8.1MWh facility in Yame District, Fukuoka Prefecture, which it expects to connect to the grid in September 2026. Its website suggests it is planning to sell both projects and aims to offer a turnkey development and operation service.
