Vena Energy-affiliated NWE-09 Investment LLC completed the environmental impact assessment for a 72MW onshore wind project in Ichikikushikino and Satsumasendai cities, Kagoshima Prefecture. It submitted the final assessment on August 3 and received METI approval on August 21, 2026.
According to the document released for public viewing on October 14, 2026, the company plans to install 18 turbines, 4.3MW each, across an approximately 550ha site. Their combined 77.4MW output will be capped due to grid connection size. Construction is scheduled to begin in November 2026, with commercial operation following in May 2029.
METI data shows the project was certified under the feed-in-tariff (FIT) scheme in FY2019, when onshore wind assets were offered 19 yen per kWh for 20 years.
The developer launched the environmental impact assessment in September 2018, planning an up to 90MW wind farm at the time. As most of the site overlapped with another developer’s project, the company restarted the process in September 2019, cutting the capacity to up to 72MW and adjusting the location.
Operational wind farms in the vicinity include the 20MW Kushikino Reimei Wind Power Plant, which was commissioned in November 2012, and the 27.6MW Yanagiyama Wind Farm, which followed in October 2014. Green Power Investment’s approximately 40MW Ichikikushikino-Satsumasendai project, which reached the draft assessment stage in June 2024, is also undergoing the environmental impact assessment process.
Vena Energy operates three onshore wind power plants in Japan, including the 7.5MW Nakaura in Nagasaki Prefecture. It is also developing the up to 162.5MW Yamanami, the 30MW Kagoshima Koriyama, and the up to 46.2MW Akita Oga projects among others.
