Erex began commercial operation of its second grid-scale battery storage project, a 1.99MW/8.15MWh facility in Shibayama Town, Chiba Prefecture, on October 20, 2026, the company announced on the same day.

According to the statement, market participation of the Tokyo-area asset will be optimized in-house as part of the company’s efforts to expand its aggregation business.

When first announcing the project in Janaury 2026, Erex said that GreenEnergy Plus would be in charge of its engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC). The facility uses cabinet-type lithium-ion battery systems supplied by an undisclosed manufacturer.

The Chiba project follows the company’s first grid-scale storage asset, which was commissioned in Kushima City, Miyazaki Prefecture, in April 2026. Erex is also developing a 2MW/8MWh facility in Kameoka City, Kyoto Prefecture, and a battery system co-located with a Nishinippon Plant Engineering and Construction-affiliated solar power plant in Fukuoka Prefecture.

Primarily active in biomass generation and power trading, Erex targets expanding its aggregation portfolio to 100MW across standalone and co-located battery storage, corporate PPAs, and demand response by 2028.
