Both projects were awarded FIP support in Japan’s solar auctions.

Yotsuya Energy began construction of its first two solar power plants, the 16MWDC Kombumori in Kushiro Town, Hokkaido, and the 45MWDC Manago in Tochigi City, Tochigi Prefecture, the company’s founder and CEO Toshiaki Isoi announced in a LinkedIn post on August 19, 2026.

Isoi said the two are the company’s first to reach the notice-to-proceed stage since its launch in October 2022. Both power plants will sell their output under corporate PPAs. The post did not disclose further details including the offtakers and target commissioning dates. OCCTO and METI data show the projects secured feed-in-premium (FIP) support for 12MWAC and 29.9MWAC, respectively.

The Hokkaido project, held through the special purpose company (SPC) Kombumori Solar LLC, was awarded at 4.26 yen per kWh in the 25th (FY2025’s second) solar auction and certified in March 2026.

The Tochigi project, owned by Manago Solar LLC, cleared at 4.46 yen per kWh in the 27th (FY2025’s fourth) round and has until October 6, 2026, to obtain certification under the scheme’s rules. While the SPC successfully bid at 4.47 yen per kWh in the 23rd (FY2024’s fourth) auction, it did not certify the project afterward, thus voiding the original award.

Known as Yotsuya Capital until June 2024, Yotsuya Energy secured an investment from Octopus Energy Generation in April 2023 to support the development of 250MW of solar power plants in Japan over five years. As of early 2026, the developer’s website listed a pipeline of nine corporate PPA solar projects totaling approximately 230MWDC and a 600MWh grid-scale battery storage portfolio under development across Japan.
