TESS Engineering and Buddy Net signed a partnership agreement on April 10, 2026, to collaborate on grid-scale battery storage, the companies announced on the same day.

The partners will work together on project development, and the TESS Holdings subsidiary will tap Buddy Net for design and construction, equipment supply, and other related activities.

Prior to the formal tie-up, Buddy Net and TESS Engineering were jointly responsible for the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of a 2MW/8MWh grid-scale battery storage project in Shimane Prefecture that is scheduled for completion in May 2026. The former said it handled site selection, initial surveying, foundation construction, and equipment delivery and installation.

Buddy Net is a subsidiary of the TSE Standard-listed AKIBA Holdings that is active in construction and maintenance of telecommunications and renewable energy facilities.

TESS Holdings targets building at least 850MW of standalone and co-located storage by 2030 under its TX2030 medium-term management plan. Its subsidiary TESS Engineering has disclosed several EPC contracts, including for Daiwa Energy & Infrastructure extra high-voltage and Tokyo Century high-voltage projects.
